In 1821 he became professor of materia medica in the same institution. He first published his Edinburgh New Dispensatory in 1803, and it ran through ten editions in 19 years. He was for many years editor of the Edinburgh Medical and Surgical Journal.Jacob Dyckman (1788-1822), b. Harlem, New York; d. New York City. He graduated from Columbia College in 1810 and from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in the University of the State of New York in 1813. Dr. Dyckman was the health commissioner of New York City (1821-1822) and secretary of the New York Literary and Philosophical Society.A first edition of the American revision of Duncan's valuable work.
