Illus boards with red comb binding, five illustrations with simple moving parts, [20]pp. Monochrome illus in text as well. This is a illustrated book with moving parts dating from the 1940s. There is an inscription on title page that is dated '4-2-1946' - indicating an early printing or possible first. No DJ issued. This is an animated book - There are five designs which have tabs to pull or move. When tabs are moved, another part of the picture moves. Only one tab does not work as originally designed; all others have their tabs and move as designed. Every page is colorful and bright. This is spiral bound' and all pages are well attached except title page which has two small tape repairs that tape it down to the front board. One other page has a tape repair that is barely visible. This is NOT an ex-lib. Covers are clean and bright with surface wear along the edges and corners. This is a 80+ year old book. it is in very good find of an early example of a pop-up/ animated book.

Any flaws (writing, tears, creases) are exceptions to a Fine condition and should be clearly described for a book and dust jacket.

Bound with red plastic comb woven through spine board, rear hinge has been repaired along approx. 2" of its exterior at base, has slight bowing to boards, slight bumps to spine ends with tiny tears to top of spine, light creasing to spine with thin split starting to paper near top and interior remaining solid, some slight peeling starting to paper along hinges and at comb teeth, slight shelfwear to edges and corners of boards, creasing to a few pages at binding with some tearing at teeth, and slight wear to pull tabs in text block with one mostly torn away, otherwise a solid, bright Good copy.

The book itself shows rubbing at the edges with marginal loss, a former owner name neatly on the title page, 2 moveable tabs are disconnected another is chipped, 1 page is inverted, otherwise the binding is strong and tight, the text and illustrations are clean and unmarked, and the boards are bright and distinct. The dust jacket shows 2 small tape repairs, some chipping along the edges, otherwise is not price-clipped remaining bright, colorful and distinct. As pictured.

'Animated' illustrations mostly nonfunctional: torn, lacking parts or otherwise damaged. Interior else clean, unmarked. Dust jacket shows loss to spine foot and back top edge, creasing at corners, faint toning all over. As-is.

This hardcover book has many color, moving illustrations. All moving pictures are in excellent moving order. The red, plastic comb binding is strong with all pages firmly attached. The pages are clean with no soiling, writing, or tears. The copyright page shows 1944 as the published date. The dust jacket is about 99% intact with a half inch chip on the top of the back and light chipping on the corners. The DJ also shows some very light soiling and there is a short (one inch) closed tear on the top of the front. I have placed the DJ in a fresh mylar jacket and this old book looks and feels great! We always ship in a sturdy cardboard box!
