Publisher advertisements present on the front inside cover, back inside cover, and back cover. Popular American ballad published in 1921 with lyrics by Annelu Burns (1889-1942) and music by Ernest R. Ball (1878-1927). Burns was an American lyricist, violinist, and educator trained at Judson College and the Boston Conservatory, active in popular songwriting and musical theater during the 1910s and early 1920s. Ernest R. Ball was a leading Tin Pan Alley composer best known for sentimental ballads such as When Irish Eyes Are Smiling and Mother Machree, and was a charter member of ASCAP. Reflects the post World War I popularity of lyrical love songs combining expressive piano accompaniment with emotionally direct lyrics centered on love, separation, and longing.
