A group of three manuscript maps on laid paper, expertly executed in ink & watercolour. All are in colour and bear hand-drawn cartouches. The maps bear captions and text in German. All have the date 1736 in pencil. Variously titled: Project Auf Die Schantze bey ASSOW durch I.T.W. [image 46cm x 36cm] / Plan von ASSOW. [image 60cm x 42,5cm] With an alphabetical key A-E. / Project auf ASSOW. [image 59cm x 43cm]. With an Explication, alphabetic key A-E. These maps show the fortifications at the Azov Fortress, relating to the 1736 siege of the fortress by the Russian Don Army. Binding(?) remnants at the left edge of the two larger maps, short tears at the lower right corners of the two larger maps, the smaller map mounted (upper margin only) on a larger sheet (63cm x 52cm). Clean and in very good condition. Handsome and unique.
