Hardcover with Dust Jacket. Zustand: Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fair. George Belcher (illustrator). First Edition. 8vo. Pp. 77. Illustrated with black & white reproductions of drawings and a manuscript facsimile. Text on heavy Greenfield watermarked paper, bottom and fore edges untrimmed. Bound in brown cloth, gilt titles stamped on the cover and spine. In the illustrated dust jacket. Covers stained, front hinge starting, endpapers age tone transfer from jacket flaps. Dust jacket edges chipped, closed tears and creases. Leaves bright and crisp. Despite detracting qualities, a presentable copy in scarce dust jacket. Thirteen character sketches in Belcher's drawings and Aumonier's prose, the last of which is reciprocal. Aumonier hopes in the introduction that in a hundred years this long out-of-print book will be found in a dusty attic and surprise the finder with depictions of "what people were like in those bad old days."
