First Edition. Some cloth staining; a very good copy in a chipped dust jacket; in a custom quarter-morocco clamshell box. The copy has been signed by Ruth, Bob Considine and others for presentation to the publisher 'on the occasion of Babe Ruth giving the manuscript of this book to the Yale University Library.' In return, a thin, sickly, dying Ruth received a citation in New Haven from the varsity baseball team captain, one George H.W. Bush. All books described as first editions are first printings unless otherwise noted.

Tillman and, by descent. Edward Charles Tillman (1890-1956) was a dentist practicing in New York during the 1930s and 1940s whose patients included Babe Ruth.American professional baseball player whose career in Major League Baseball (MLB) spanned 22 seasons, from 1914 through 1935. Nicknamed "the Bambino" and "the Sultan of Swat", he began his MLB career as a star left-handed pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, but achieved his greatest fame as a slugging outfielder for the New York Yankees. Ruth is regarded as one of the greatest sports heroes in American culture and is considered by many to be the greatest baseball player of all time. In 1936, Ruth was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame as one of its "first five" inaugural members.
