Pages have light tanning and foxing throughout. Previous owner's inscriptions to pastedowns and front free endpaper. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Light tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Creasing to spine.

Ex-library copy with labels and stamps to pastedowns and endpapers only and small presentation label to title page, otherwise very good indeed.

Raised bands, gilt lettering, and gilt lines on spine. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. Pages and covers are clean and intact. Binding is tight. Inscribed in black ink by the translator, Caroline Clive (1801-1872), to Rev. William Stainton Moses (1839-1892). Clive signed the inscription with her pseudonym, "V." Caroline Clive was an English writer and married Rev. Archer Clive. William Stainton Moses was an English minister and spiritualist medium. English translation of the book by Hungarian author and psychical researcher Baron Hellenbach (1827-1887). Inscribed by Translator.
