Es beherbergt aber auch einen bedeutenden Teil der ehemaligen fürstlichen Büchersammlungen. Von besonderer Bedeutung für den Aufbau und den Erhalt der Bibliotheken waren die Fürstinnen. Nicht nur in Böhmisch Krumau und anderen Adelsgeschlechtern der Habsburgermonarchie engagierten sich Fürstinnen für das Buch und den sorgsamen Umgang mit ihm, sondern auch in den Territorien des Heiligen Römischen Reiches.
