Good dust jacket showing some darkening on the spine. Jacket not price clipped. Jacket with some chips and edge tears. This copy is smyth sewn. Smyth sewing is a method of bookbinding where groups of folded pages (referred to as signatures) are stitched together using binder thread. Each folded signature is sewn together individually with multiple stitches and then joined with other signatures to create the complete book block. This is the traditional and best method of bookbinding.

Containing two full-page maps (1947 UN Partition Plan; Present Temporary Partition of Palestine Resulting from 1949 Armistice Agreements), the Contents are: Palestine Prior to the Entry of the West (with subtopic World War I); Promises (with subtopic Zionism); The Mandate and Commissions (with subtopics Developments in Palestine and The Growth of Zionist Armed Strength); The War Years to 1948 (with subtopics Zionist Actions; Postwar Conferences; London Conference); The United Nations and Palestine; The War in Palestine; Divided Palestine Until the Armistice Agreements; Chronological Table. Condition: staples age-rusted; covers show light to moderate soil and browning; tiny corner chip. The American Friends of the Middle East (AFME), a pro-Arabist and anti-Zionist organization, was founded in 1951 by, among others, Dorothy Thompson and Kermit Roosevelt Jr. and secretly funded by the Central Intelligence Agency as a conduit for intelligence gathering in the Middle East.
