The rear wrap is a little grubby and has a small tear from a sticker. The jacket will be covered with an archival quality, inert removable protective sleeve. The book presents as fine from the front in mylar. Edited by John E. Cross. Black and white frontis by Whistler and decorative title page. This is a condensed omnibus volume, containing chapters from three of Nichols's books: "Down the Garden Path" (1932), "A Thatched Roof" (1933), and "A Village in a Valley" (1934). Off the back of the success of these books, he proceeded to write an account of the cottage that was nestled in the garden called 'The Thatched Roof' He then looked from his window to observe the comings and goings of the village's eccentric occupants, put pen to paper and cam up with 'A village in a Valley'.
