In excellent condition, the only real defects a very small bump to the front bottom lower edge and a tiny spot of rubbing - about a millimetre square - near the bottom of the spine. An interesting look at Donald Hamilton Fraser's long career, including an introductory essay and commentary upon many paintings, a long interview with the artist, a chronology of his life and career, lists of publications and works in public collections, and a bibliography. There are also contributions by Sir Peter Blake, Brendan Neiland and Annela Twitchin. Blake recalls how they were both tutors at the Royal College of Art. Among Fraser's pupils were David Hockney and Ron Kitaj. Fraser notes wryly that he has "always learnt by teaching". His own big break came when he was selected for a scholarship in Paris by Anthony Blunt and John Piper and had a successful show at Gimpel's. "I remember," he says, "feeling as though I was about a foot off the ground. It had clicked. It had worked.".

A reply from Peter Blake and the original carbon copy of Rossiter's reply. Written 1975. From a large collection of the artists letters. Anthony Rossiter RWA MSIAD was a British landscape painter who was educated at Eton and studied painting at Chelsea Art School from 1947-51. He was a romantic visionary, a "poet" whose heaven was the Mendip Hills in Somerset. Gnarled hedgerows, tumbling stone walls, broken gates, reflections in water and ploughed fields were all his subject matter. His works also included portraits, most notably that of W.H. Auden. Anthony Rossiter began his correspondence with Huxley and Osmond while writing his autobiography, The Pendulum (Gollancz, 1966). From the ecstasy of the creative high to the agonising despair of depression, The Pendulum was the creative artist's riposte to the cult success of Doors of Perception (Chatto & Windus, 1954). Where Huxley induced heightened perception by carefully controlled experiments with mescaline, Rossiter's swings came naturally and without warning. Sir Peter Thomas Blake b1932 is an English pop artist. He co-created the sleeve design for the Beatles' 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. His other works include the covers for two of The Who's albums, the cover of the Band Aid single "Do They Know It's Christmas?", and the Live Aid concert poster. Blake also designed the 2012 Brit Award statuette. Blake is a prominent figure in the pop art movement. Central to his paintings are his interest in images from popular culture which have infused his collages. In 2002 he was knighted at Buckingham Palace for his services to art. Fine throughout. 24 Nights is a unique collaboration between Eric Clapton, Peter Blake and Derek Taylor. Issued to commemorate Eric Clapton's record 24-night performance at the Royal Albert Hall in 1991. Peter Blake's scrapbook is a collection of pencil sketches, charcoal drawings and montages showing Eric and the band during rehearsals and performances. Blake was the Associate Artist of the National Gallery and is probably best known for his graphic cover of The Beatles' 'Sergeant Pepper' album cover. A vast selection of original memorabilia from the concert tour including back stage passes, hotel room lists, Polaroid photographs, seating plans, set lists, laminates and sheet music are reproduced in the scrapbook, many of them tip-ins pasted in by hand. The scrapbook is accompanied by a commentary book by Derek Taylor. Taylor attended rehearsals in Dublin, performances at the Royal Albert Hall and the after-show party. His account provides a unique insight into the backstage and on-the-road world of Eric Clapton and his band. A former publicist for the Beatles' Apple Corps (as well as the Mamas and Papas, The Beach Boys and The Byrds), Taylor was one of the most influential music industry professionals of the time. His commentary offers the reader a rare opportunity to experience an insider's perspective on the man who is universally recognised as the world's greatest blues guitarist, labelled 'God' during his time with John Mayall, Cream, and Blind Faith in the mid to late sixties.
