Die Rechtslage beider Länder wird detailliert dargestellt und daraufhin untersucht, welcher Schutz den Journalisten durch die jeweiligen Verfassungen und das einfache Recht garantiert wird. Dabei bezieht der Autor historische Besonderheiten ein, nimmt aber immer wieder Bezug auf aktuelle Entwicklungen in beiden Ländern wie das neue Gesetz zur Stärkung der Pressefreiheit aus dem Jahre 2012.
