Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Very good condition dark green textured boards with an embossed circular front cover decoration and gilt spine lettering. The upper spine edge shows moderate rubbing; only slight lower spine edge rubbing. All pages are in fine condition, the binding is exceedingly tight and square, even though the rear inside hinge has started. Illustrated with intricately detailed black-and-white woodcut illustrations and a portrait plate frontispiece of Samuel Butler with a fine tissue guard overlay. Also includes at the rear of the book an Index, An Alphabetical List of Books Contained in Bohn's Libraries; The York Library - A New Series of Reprints on Thin Paper; Bell's Cathedral Series; and Webster's Ad for their International Dictionary. Beautifully bound in bright gilt lettered and blind embossed, illustrated, ruled and decorated red cloth gently rubbed to spine and slightly bumped to lower leading corner volume I. A good set of Hudibras for reader, scholar and collector alike, with great illustrations.
