Captain Francis Bond Head (1793-1875) was an officer in the British Army from 1811 to 1825. He was at Waterloo and after his army careeer tried setting up a mining company in Argentina which, as this book tells, failed. From 1835 to 1837 he was Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada. He subsequently wrote a number of books on travel and travellers. Size: 7.5 x 4.75 Inches. Pagination: vii, [i], folding sketch map, 228pp. Provenance: inscriptions by the Author to the Earl of Hardwicke to the title page. Approximately 7 ¾ inches tall (20cm).
