Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Bound in black leather covered boards with red and gilt decorative frame and central Royal Miners insignia in gilt. Marbled end boards with Spink and Son label. All pages gilt edged. The boards have wear to extremities with slight loss at corners and base of spine. The head and base of spine have short splits (15mm apprx.). Binding tight and overall a very presentable copy for age with no inscriptions First chapter is a chronological history of the militia in Cornwall and the events that may have required the local population to be engaged in its defense. It wasn't until 1798 that the Royal Miners regiment was formally organised and the remainder of the book is the history from that time. 14 piates including the frontispiece of Pendennis Castle, Falmouth. Many of the plates are of groups of officers. Also included are three separate disbound Acts of Parliament from the time of George 111 when we were actively involved against the French and there was a risk of invasion.…
