Full-Leather. Zustand: Good. Hayman, F. (illustrator). Fifth Edition. Fifth edition from 1782 in four volumes I (293pp), II (314pp), III (331pp), and IV (322pp). Contemporary full leather binding. The title panels on the spines are present for the final two volumes, partial for the second volume but largely gone from the first volume. The labels denoting the volume numbers are all lost. The spines have some chipping at the top and bottom and a little cracking to the edges. The corners are bumped with some rubbing and fraying and there is some light surface wear to the front and rear panels. Decorative endpapers. Name of a previous owner in ink to the blank page following the front free endpaper - Lady Wale of Shelford near Cambridge and there is the bookplate of another family member on the front pastedowns. Volume III has light staining to the fore edges. Volume IV has one inch pieces torn from the top corner of the front free endpaper and the bottom corner of the next page. There is spotting at the front and back of the books and light browning to the pages but the pages are otherwise generally unmarked. Illustrated by twenty-eight plates designed by Hayman.
