Original Green Cloth Hardbacks. Zustand: Very Good. Revised & Enlarged Edition. 1875. 6 volume set - in fact 3 volumes published in 6 'half volumes'. This edition, revised and enlarged by Thomas Thomson was originally published in 1870 but this is an updated issue with an additional 20 biographies including Dr Guthrie, Dr Candlish, David Livingstone, Sir J.Y. Simpson and others. 69 full page engraved portraits and 3 engavings on the title pages of half volumes I, III & V. The books are bound in the original green cloth with gilt and black decoration to the spines and boards. Light wear to edges, corners and spine ends. Light foxing to prelims and endmatter. A previous owner has loosely inserted newspaper articles and clippings related to many of the subjects in the relevant pages. This forms an additional point of interest to the set. Overall the set is in very good condition and there are no inscriptions. PLEASE NOTE: Heavy set so extra will be needed for shipping to non-UK customers.
