She and Harry Ward served as co-editors of its primary organ the Social Service Bulletin. The organization supported the 8-hour workday; supported socialists, union activists, and conscientious objectors; and helped form the ACLU. Scribner died young in 1922 in a hit-and-run. [Dance 012]. From the dust jacket- "Grace Scribner began life in a lumber village, with little preparation for the bitter struggles she was later to face and overcome.
