Octavo softcover (VG); all our specials have minimal description to keep listing them viable. They are at least reading copies, complete and in reasonable condition, but usually secondhand; frequently they are superior examples. Ordering more than one book will reduce your overall postage costs.

Erstausgabe
Zustand: Very Good. London: George Allen & Unwin Ltd, [1942]. First Thus. Octavo; publisher's orange decorative cloth, upper cover and spine lettered in green, orange topstain; 305pp.; pictorial title page. Cloth lightly soiled, spine a bit threadbare in a few small spots, light foxing to endpapers, else a Very Good, still quite attractive copy, albeit lacking the jacket. Influential (if heavily abridged) translation of Wu Cheng'en's 16th century masterpiece "Journey to the West," Waley choosing to only translate thirty of the hundred chapters, as well as omitting the poetry. Though his choices have received some recent criticism, his translation remains available as a Penguin Classic to this day.
