Softcover. Zustand: Very Good+. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: No Dust Jacket. The author spent years volunteering for the Information Office in Balboa Park in San Diego, CA. She wrote this book to answer the most-asked questions, resulting in a surprisingly lengthy history book. A few of the pages are oddly faded, but the book is tight, solid, and square. The cover has a color photo of the park with a beautiful steepled building in the background. The cover is very slightly creased near the spine and on the corners. B/W photos. Tight, square, pages clean and bright. SIGNED AND INSCRIBED by the author on first endpaper. 168p. . Trade PB. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. Signed by Author. H3.

Hardcover. Zustand: Good. 1st Edition. Stated First Edition. This book has some condition issues and I've priced it accordingly. You can see the covers in the photos. There is a brownish spot going across the lettering on the spine. On the rear cover there's water damage off the top edge. You should be able to see, if you look closely, the difference in the appearance there. There is a little bit of loss at the spine ends, also a tiny tear at the bottom one. There are some darkening off the spine's bottom edge as well. The top page edge is maroon. The middle page edge is deckled or rough-cut. The book is square and pretty solidly bound from cover to cover. The pages are nicely tight as are the covers. There is one instance of a thin space between two facing pages in the middle of the book. Both pages are tightly bound from top to bottom. I believe the book was likely left lying open there. I'm noticing now that there is also a lightened area of color at the front top corner of the cover, so the water apparently touch there as well. On the front inside cover there's just a tiny spot of pinkish color off the top edge. That's what clued me in on it. The early pages have some spotting/foxing, particularly the blank verso of the half title page which faces the glossy blank verso of the frontispiece. In reaction to the glossy paper, there is also a little spotting on the title page, as well as the frontispiece itself. It goes away after that, the spotting. I chose to give my arm a little exercise and turn over every page in the book so I can tell you that there are only a few other pages with just a little bit of this amber spotting. However, there is foxing/spotting to be found on all the glossy illustration pages and their blank versos and the text pages that precede and follow them. The rough-cut edges are almost all in very good shape, but toward the end of the book there are around half a dozen or so that are jagged. There was also a small abrasion to the top page edge and that has created a very small crease off just off the top edge of perhaps a dozen pages, two of them have a very tiny tear (1/8th"). The water stain at the top edge of the rear cover caused some of the coloring there to show up just off the top edge of the rear inside cover and ten of the last pages, fairly thin, not reaching any of the print. Finally, some of the pages have a little crease just below their top corners, guessing at maybe 15 or 20, not very serious. So I'm selling the book at half the price that I would have if the condition had been better.
