Cet ensemble déposé à l'Espace de l'Art Concret, à Mouans-Sartoux, témoigne d'une histoire inaugurée par De Stijl et le Bauhaus où se rencontrent les idéaux de nombreux artistes et offre une vision élargie de l'art concret et de l'abstraction géométrique. L'ouvrage marque une nouvelle étape dans l'aventure exigeante et généreuse de L'Espace de l'Art Concret, portée depuis 1990 par les donateurs et les équipes du centre d'art qui avec détermination proposent un projet artistique et culturel et donnent une place essentielle à l'éducation artistique des jeunes publics. C'est en 1997 que, forts de l'engagement de la ville et du soutien du ministère de la Culture, Sybil Albers-Barrier et Gottfried Honegger décident de donner leur collection à l'État, à condition que la forte cohérence scientifique du projet autour de l'art abstrait, géométrique, construit et concret, soit préservée. La première donation est formalisée en 2000 ; elle est complétée par un ensemble important d' uvres personnelles de Gottfried Honegger en 2001 puis de trois autres jusqu'en 2011. En 2002, puis en 2003, Aurélie Nemours fait également don à l'État d'un ensemble de ses uvres, auquel s'ajoute une donation de Catherine et Gilbert Brownstone (2001) et de Lanfranco Bombelli Tiravanti en 2008. En 2004, le bâtiment signé par les architectes suisses Annette Gigon et Mike Guyer offre aux uvres de la « Donation Albers-Honegger » un lieu qui transpose les enjeux de l'art concret plans et couleurs à l'échelle du réel.
