Boards have moderate shelf wear with bumping and fraying to corners and crushing, fraying and tearing to spine ends and edges. Gilt lettering remains bright and clear.

In overall good used condition with minor signs of age, handling and storage - blue cloth boards slightly tanned to spine with short split to front spine-fold at spine head. Internally clean. Binding tight; no annotation or inscriptions - Bancroft School With Compliments Slip loosely inserted; tanning and a little spotting to page-ends and prelims but text and illustrations bright and clear throughout. Not an old library book.

Bound in full dark blue leather, gilt lettering and lining to somewhat faded spine, lining and gilt embossed Arms of the Drapers' Company to upper board, top edges gilt. Previous owner's bookplate (Richard Summers) bookplate to page preceding frontispiece, some foxing to page edges, otherwise a handsome copy.

Also 5 illustrations within the text. The story of the school founded by the Drapers Company, first in Mile End and then moving to Woodford Green. VG.
