Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. 1st Edition. Stated First American Edition along with Number Line to 1. As you can see from the photos, the black covers are exceptionally clean. The white lettering on the front and spine is very bright. There is very little wear. The edges and corners are in very good shape with just a speck of white showing at the two bottom ones. There are couple of small scuffs at the bottom edge of the spine removing tiny bits of the black color. There's also a small crease on the front side of the spine just off the bottom edge. The book is square and solidly bound from cover to cover. The pages are nicely tight as are the covers. The front cover bows out just a little bit. The interior of the book is in very nice condition. The inside covers and end papers are black. They're all very clean and free of wear. The pages look exceptionally clean. In scrolling through I haven't found any soiling at all. Nor are there any creases or markings or attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. You can see the dust jacket in the first few photos. I've had it in a fitted protective cover for as long as I've owned the book. I'm not seeing any tears. The jacket is very clean. There is a very tiny bit of rubbing or scuffing at the bottom edge of the spine, also a tiny spot of the same at the front bottom corner. The flaps are in excellent shape, very clean. The jacket is NOT price-clipped, not clipped at all. I've jacked the price up from the original $39.95 price. From the dust jacket: 'From portraits and nudes, to still life and landscapes, with media ranging from acrylic and oil paintings to cast glass and bronze statues, Contemporary Realism represents twenty-six years of discovery, appreciation, and collecting by a pair of the movement's finest advocates, Richard and Monica Segal.'.

Summary:"An account of a cairn built on the crest of a small hill at the entrance to the village in Scotland where Andy Goldsworthy lives reveals the importance of his work close to home, which is the inspiration for so much that he then creates elsewhere." "A series of works involving elm trees made near Goldsworthy's home exemplifies his work's beauty as well as its association with death and decay, here made more poignant by the knowledge that so few elms survive since disease wiped out hundreds of thousands of trees." "Passage also includes Goldsworthy's most recent commission, Garden of Stones, a Holocaust memorial at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in New York. Here eighteen oak trees were planted through small holes, in hollowed-out, earth-filled boulders. Growing in an almost impossible circumstances, the trees carry powerful symbolic meaning." "Documenting these and other recent works, Passage is a testament to Goldsworthy's determination to both deepen and extent his understanding of the world around him and his and his relationship with it through his art."--Jacket.
