The author provides descriptions of individual mines and prospects based on published and unpublished information, including reports from government agencies… and industry engineers. While production from the region during WWI stimulated interest, mining was limited to small deposits containing sorted high-grade ore. The largest locally known disseminated ore body was exhausted by 1944. The author concludes that given the lack of new discoveries between 1941 and 1943, and the fact that accessible parts of the region have been thoroughly prospected, there is little potential for future production in the region unless new, large deposits are discovered.
