Octavo. [1-5-]6-146 pages. Photographs By C.C. Putney. Joe Cronin, Manager of the Boston Red Sox writes an introduction entitled: The Dugout. Inscribed by the author to Lee "Flame" Delhi who he writes: "one of the greatest pictures of poetry in motion I ever saw." Delhi was the first Arizona born player to play in the Major Leagues. His papers are held by ASU Special Collections. The author discussed the keys to hitting with Ty Cobb who explains how he watched successful hitters who came up with these principles. His discussion with Joe DiMaggio illustrates them. Much of the advice would not be appropriate in the modern baseball world but what he says about hitting has some sound principles. Bound in green cloth lettered in gilt, spine lettering gilt but fading, lacks front and rear endpapers, some finger soiling. A good copy of a scarce baseball book.
