No Binding. Zustand: Very Good. Drawn By Spy (illustrator). First. A fine original colour lithograph from Vanity Fair, a magazine which was published from 1869-1914, featuring a large caricature portrait each week. These were drawn by various artists, the most famous of whom was Leslie Ward who used the 'nom de crayon' of "Spy". This portrait will come mounted/matted and ready to frame using archivist quality materials, mount size 18 x 12 inches, 47 x 31 cms. It will be presented in a cellophane wrapper with our label guaranteeing authenticity. We pack very well, between sheets of hardboard. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a portrait of Walter Durnford, with the caption "Walter D". Sir Walter was provost of King's College, Cambridge.

Dark navy blue covers, clean, bumping to corners/top and bottom of spine (see photos). 9 full page illustrations, eight of which are photos. Frontispiece is torn. Book is tight. Upper text block shows remains of having been gilded. Pages are predominately clean. One page has a tear but is complete. Could be described as very good for age but have listed as good. Kenyon-Slaney (1847-1908) was born in Rajkot in Gujarat in British India. Was educated at Eton and briefly at Christ Church, Oxford. Kenyon-Slaney was a noted sportsman and played first-class cricket for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), as well as playing at county level for Shropshire between 1865 and 1879. He was also a keen association football player playing for Wanderers and was selected to play for England against Scotland in the second ever football international on 8 March 1873. In 1882 under the command of Sir Garnet Wolseley he took part in the Battle of Tel el-Kebir. In 1886 Kenyon-Slaney was elected to Parliament to represent the Newport division of Shropshire for the Conservative Party which he represented until his death.
