This gripping maritime novel by English novelist and magazine editor, Edward Howard, has nine plates across the volumes by Auguste Hervieu and f…or a long time was attributed to Captain Marryat. as he edited the 'Metropolitan Magazine' together with Howard, a former shipmate, and, in fact, edited this work, although Howard was the true author. The binding and bookplate on the inside board indicate an aristocratic lineage, but I have not been able to identify which family. Extra Postage For all but Media.
