Michael Diller. Malerei und Grafik. Berlin: Reison Verlag, 1995. Exhibition catalog published on the occasion of the exhibition 'Michael Diller - Malerei und Grafik' at Galerie Berlin (15 March-22 April 1995). Edited by Matthias Flugge, Lutz Friedel, and Gunda Oelmann. Designed by Uta Grundmann. Photography by Bernd Kuhnert, Gerhard Zwickert, and Uwe Walter. Printed by DBC Druckhaus Berlin-Centrum. Edition limited to 600 copies. Quarto format. Original publisher's violet matte textured boards. No dust jacket as issued. A substantial and visually powerful monograph documenting the work of German painter and graphic artist Michael Diller, featuring full-page color reproductions of oil paintings alongside black-and-white etchings and graphic works. Includes scholarly essays (notably by Matthias Flugge) situating Diller within the context of late DDR and post-reunification German art. The volume closes with a bibliography and exhibition history. The colophon states: '© Reison Verlag, Berlin 1995' and 'Auflage: 600 Exemplare,' confirming the limited print run. Near Fine. Boards clean and bright with light handling and minor edge wear; binding firm and square. Interior clean and unmarked, pages bright, plates vivid. No ownership markings observed. A handsome, well-preserved example of a scarce Berlin exhibition catalog with a relatively small print run. Edition/Printing Diagnostics: First edition, first and only printing (1995), as indicated by copyright page and explicit limitation statement of 600 copies. No subsequent printings noted. Hardcover issued without dust jacket. Michael Diller (born 1949) is a German painter and graphic artist associated with the generation of artists who worked in East Germany (DDR) while maintaining a distinct artistic independence. Trained initially in a non-artisan trade before pursuing formal artistic study, Diller developed an expressive, psychologically charged visual language characterized by dense, gestural brushwork and emotionally complex figuration. His work has been exhibited in Berlin and internationally, and he is frequently discussed in the context of late DDR and transitional-era German art.
