Pale turquoise cloth covered boards and spine with shiny gilt lettering on the spine and shiny gilt trim on the front board around a lovely full color pastedown. Book has a fair amount of bumping at the head and tail of the spine and at the tips of the outside corners with a fair amount of accompanying rubbing - cloth at the extremities has been worn through and little bits of the inner board peek through. Spine is sunned to a lighter color and the gilt lettering is not as shiny as it once was, but the lettering is still a bit shiny and easy to read. Illustrated endpapers with drawing of The Alcott home in Concord, MA. Front hinge is cracked between the copyright page and the Preface. Binding still holding tight and pages are all clean and crisp. 406 pages. Illustrated by Clara M. Burd. No dust jacket. Book definitely shows its age, but still presents really well.
