Paperback. Zustand: New. Language: English. About The Book: The Sundara Kanda forms the heart of Valmiki's Ramayana and consists of a detailed, vivid account of Hanuman's adventures. After learning about Sita, Hanuman assumes a gargantuan form and makes a colossal leap across the ocean to Lanka after defeating Surasa, the mother of the nagas, and Simhika, who is sent by the devatas. In Lanka, Hanuman searches for Sita, and finally finds her in the Ashoka Vatika. In the Ashoka Vatika, Sita is wooed and threatened by Ravana and his rakshasi mistresses to marry Ravana. Hanuman reassures her, giving Rama's signet ring as a sign of good faith. He offers to carry Sita back to Rama; however, she refuses, reluctant to allow herself to be rescued by anyone other than her husband. She says that Rama himself must come and avenge the insult of her abduction. Hanuman then wreaks havoc in Lanka by destroying trees and buildings, and kills Ravana's warriors. He allows himself to be captured and produced before Ravana. He gives a bold lecture to Ravana to release Sita. He is condemned and his tail is set on fire, but he escapes his bonds and, leaping from roof to roof, sets fire to Ravana's citadel, and makes the giant leap back from the island. The joyous search party returns to Kishkindha with the news. About The Book: In this book discusses the earliest recorded religion in history that of the Hindus, which precedes the religions of Egypt, Greece, and Rome. Hinduism stands out as a unique and extensive belief system, unlike any other in civilized societies. Rather than being a singular structure, it resembles a grand palace with multiple layers, integrating various religions. Its theology, mythology, and scriptures are vast, requiring devoted study to comprehend fully. Hinduism is not mere superstition or paganism; instead, it exudes awe-inspiring profundity. A remarkable address at the Parliament of Religions beautifully captures the essence of Hinduism, embodying the lofty ideals of this ancient faith. Hardcover. Zustand: New. Language: English. About The Book: Kamandakiya Nitisara, or the Elements of Polity, highlights the ancient Hindus' excellence in metaphysical and theological debates. Their literature delves into philosophy and the unification of humanity with divinity. While some argue that ancient Indian literature lacks practical guidance, it also addresses morals and politics. The Rajdharma section in the Mahabharata presents a beautiful account of the Science of Polity. Originally comprising ten million chapters, it was gradually condensed by sages, culminating in Chanakya's hundred-verse reform at the end of the Rishi era. This work's dedication to Chandragupta and its unique approach have sparked scholarly discussions, as noted in Siddhanta Muktavali. Paperback. Zustand: New. Language: English. About The Book: The Ramayana, an immortal epic by Valmiki, is hailed as a literary gem, often compared to the Kohinoor of literature. Within its verses unfolds the enduring conflict between good and evil, personified by the noble Rama and the formidable Ravana. Rama, born into royalty, embodies virtue, while the ten-headed demon Ravana epitomizes unrighteousness. Characters such as Lakshmana and Bharata illustrate the essence of fraternal love, while the devoted Hanuman provides an unmatched portrayal of unwavering service. The Ramayana's impact on Hindu society is profound, seeping into every societal layer. Its characters and narratives have become deeply embedded in everyday language, with proverbs resonating across diverse segments. Beyond literature, the epic molds moral values, and Sita, symbolizing purity and fidelity, stands as an esteemed role model for Hindu women. The epic's political relevance lies in its depiction of an ideal monarchy under Rama's benevolent rule. Apart from its cultural significance, the Ramayana serves as a wellspring for subsequent literary creations. The poem offers glimpses into ancient Hindu wisdom, covering cosmogony, theogony, genealogies, folklore, and historical anecdotes. For scholars and oriental literature enthusiasts, the Ramayana, along with the Mahabharata, proves indispensable in unraveling the intricacies of ancient Indian customs and manners. The translation of the Ramayana into English is deemed a valuable endeavor, facilitating access to this ancient treasure for a broader audience. As the narrative stems from an ascetic in contemplation, the translation endeavors to approach the task with reverence, ensuring a faithful representation of its profound thoughts. This linguistic transformation is not merely a conversion but a conduit for sharing the epic's wisdom and cultural richness with a global readership.
