Hardcover. Zustand: Very good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: good. First Edition. Octavo, 200pp. A very good, crisp copy in the publisher's beige cloth. Some foxing to the edges and endpapers, and a nick to the crown. In a good dust jacket, with some tape repairs to the rear panel and a chip at the crown. A fantastic copy, SIGNED and INSCRIBED by Murrow on the front free endpaper to Andre Kostelanetz, the famous Russian-American conductor and a contributor to this book: "This book is for Andre Kostelanetz, who speaks with words as well as music! Ed Murrow." Kostelanetz was one of 100 contributors to this book arranged by the most famous television and radio journalist of his day, Edward Murrow. Kostelanetz's contribution is entitled "Matisse and the Music of Discontent," in which he describes a meeting with the aged painter, who discussed his sources of inspiration, most notably, the daily check-in with his artichoke plants in his garden. We have not been able to trace a copy of this book signed by Murrow ever at auction or in the history of ebay sales, let alone one with such a significant association. Murrow is best remembered today for his skewering of Joe McCarthy, a series of events which were admirably portrayed in the film "Good Night and Good Luck," starring David Strathairn as Murrow.
