Lovell Company in 1882; the three works in this volume are part of a 6-vol. set; 356 p., clean and unmarked except for period book plate of former owner on front paste-down; atrong though age-toned paper; green boards with gilt lettering and medallion showing the author in profile are somewhat bumped and abraded, severe discoloration in parts; gutters are cracked--this volume would reward rebinding. Of special interest is Impressions of Theophrastus Such, as it was an experimental work in which the scholarly protagonist reveals his character through a series of literary essays and reminiscences--many of which are considered to be those of Eliot herself.
