Certainly the wicket was not of the best although the Valse Õs dedicatee managed to hit three sixes as Lord Harris remembers: ÔI was in with him at the time. He had just previously hit one against the old Armoury É and one over D block, and when he followed these big hits Ð very big for a boy Ð by that astounding drive over the pavilion I thought it was all right for Eton, but he was bowled by a shooter almost the next ball.Õ The composer died the following year, 24 September 1869. He was the youngest son of the distinguished shipbuilder Joseph dÕAguilar Samuda. Padwick 6563-1 although not identifying the composer.
