Slight cracking to hinges, with exposed netting, pages remain attached. Pages are lightly tanned throughout. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Light tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends and water marking to spine. Splits to spine ends causing cloth to be frayed. Wear marks overall.

In 1813 the publication of this work, his Classical Tour Through Italy, obtained for him sudden celebrity, and he became a prominent figure in literary society. The fourth revised edition of this work, which includes a description of the excavations of Pompeii, subsequent to the author's tour, and a list of the most celebrated inns in Italy. In half paper vellum. Externally smart, though spines and corners are a little soiled, as is usual with vellum. Vol III and IV are a little bumped to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with a scattering of spots to the first and last few pages. Very Good. book.
