Vellum with hand-written spine title, small chip to bottom spine otherwise unworn bar some corner bumping but quite dirty and spine darkened (see 1st and 2nd images), all text-block edges very darkened but patchily so to front, seems to be ingrained dust but resists erasure. Tanned half-title + t.p. partly lettered red and with engraved illustration +11 unpaginated prelims (inc. 7 pp. Index) + 886, ornate engraved tail-pieces to Index and main text, occasional heavy tanning to some gatherings but mostly good. Front end-papers have several marks and slight dustiness, paste-down has long but very thin incipient vertical crack and small ex libris label 'Praedicatorium Novicastri' and facing end-paper has round purple stamp of Hawkesyard Priory Library to top, this was a Dominican Priory in Staffordshire which opened in 1898 and closed in 1988, both these have a few small lib. numbers.
