Samuel Uffoot of the 2nd Company, 4th Connecticut Regiment in the amount of 44 pounds, 17 shillings and 10 pence. Signed by Fenn Wadsworth (1750-1785), John Chenward (1733-1805) and Oliver Wolcott, Jr (1760-1833). Capt Uffoot signs and acknowledges receipt of the note on the verso. Fenn Wadsworth served as Brigade Major to General James Wadsworth in the Connecticut militia from 1776-1779. Oliver Wolcott, Jr, son of a signer of the Declaration of Independence, later served as the nation's second Secretary of the Treasury from 1795-1800 and as Connecticut Governor from 1817-1827. An excellent example of a handwritten Revolutionary War document with multiple signatures from officers and statesmen of the era. Very good condition. Two old folds to paper. Signed by Author(s).
