The closed text block edge is a little spotted. Complete with the lightly rubbed dustwrapper that has a couple of short closed tears to the lower edge of the upper panel, without loss. This is a near fine copy free from internal inscriptions, some creasing to the spine and bumping to spine tips, light bumping to extremities, the text blocks are toned throughout, though free from foxing. Colonel Sun is the first James Bond continuation novel published after Ian Fleming's 1964 death.

Near fine. The first post- Ian Fleming James Bond novel, written under a pseudonym by Kingsley Amis, who had edited Fleming's final 007 story for posthumous publication in 1965. This copy is from the Ian Fleming Bibliographical Archive assembled by Jon Gilbert, with his pencilled ownership to endpaper. Engineer Charles Amherst Villiers (1900-1991) designed a supercharger for the 4½ litre 'Blower' Bentley, the gearing for which was made by David Brown & Son [D.B.S.], prior to their acquisition of Aston Martin, a struggling motor company previously funded by Count Louis Zborowski. His friend Ian Fleming chose the 'blower' as James Bond's own vehicle, plus a company Aston Martin D.B.3 on assignment, and later consulted Villiers while writing Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang, an adventure book about a vintage car based on Zborowski's 1920 Zeppelin-powered Mercedes. Collection of 19 letters comprising original typescript and carbon copies. Housed in pink foolscap folder. A fine set. Archive of correspondence between Jonathan Cape, the publisher of Fleming's Bond series, and the author's favoured typist Jean Frampton. The papers mainly consist of friendly professional letters, telegrams, notes and postcards concerning Frampton's employment and also contains some significant early material, kept by Frampton as recycled scrap paper. The main body of correspondence is between Frampton and Isabel Ross, Editorial Manager at Jonathan Cape, concerning Frampton's work to re-type the 1965 critical analysis The James Bond Dossier by Kingsley Amis, and the first post-Fleming Bond continuation novel, Colonel Sun published in 1968, also by Amis under the pseudonym Robert Markham. The archive also includes some noteworthy early Fleming material; some of the typist's retained letters were typed on the verso side of some previously-used Fleming and Bond typescripts which, given the errors shown, were early discarded versions but kept by Frampton as scrap paper. Included here is: an original typed page of Thrilling Cities, a carbon typescript with the three-line Basho poem from You Only Live Twice, typescript sheets from You Only Live Twice, a typesheet from The Man with the Golden Gun, a typesheet from The James Bond Dossier and three sheets from Colonel Sun.
