Einer von zwei Drucken im Jahr der Erstausgabe; in diesem Druck ist der Paginierungsfehler (46 statt 64) berichtigt. - Im November 1628 berief Kurfürst Johann Georg I. seine Theologen in Leipzig zu einem Konvent ein. Sie sollten die Katholiken widerlegen, die behaupteten, die Protestanten hätten gegen den Augsburger Religionsfrieden von 1555 verstoßen. Die dazu verfasste Schrift wurde, wie auch die Augsburger Konfession, als evangelischer Augapfel bezeichnet. Die vorliegende Abhandlung nimmt Bezug auf die Rettung des "Evangelischen Augapffels", die eine Neuausgabe der Augsburger Konfession darstellt. Der Verfasser versucht zu beweisen, daß die katholische Partei jederzeit den Augsburger Religionsfrieden als verpflichtend angesehen hätte, während ihn die Protestanten ihn als für ihre Sache ungünstig abgelehnt hätten. - Der Luzerner Jesuit Laurenz Forer (1580-1659) erwies sich nach seiner Priesterweihe (1611) als leidenschaftlicher Verteidiger des katholischen Glaubens und verfasste in diesem Sinne über 30 kontroverstheologische Schriften, die sich u.a. gegen Caspar Scioppius, Matthäus von Hoe, Petrus Molinäus richteten. 1632 begleitete er den Augsburger Fürstbischof Heinrich von Knöringen bei dessen Flucht vor den Schweden ins Tirol. Nach einer Professur am Jesuitenkolleg in Luzern, wirkte er ab 1652 als Superior in Feldkirch und lebte von 1654 bis zu seinem Tode in Regensburg.
