Soft cover. Here are two rare, antique religious pamphlets : "The Evidence of the Divinity of Our Saviour, as Furnished by the Gospel of St. John", Parts III and IV. by Frederick Dalcho. The specimens here offered were published as reprints by the Protestant Episcopal Tract Society in 1840. Dalcho's work originally appeared in 1820. Each pamphlet is a thin sewn affair of 8 pages, covered by a yellow wrap, which wrap contains the publisher's list of titles on the insides of the covers, and the rear exteriors. The author is not credited in the pamphlets, but we know the author to have been Frederick Dalcho (Re: The American Antiquarian Society). We only have Part III (No. 148) and Part IV (No. 149). Part III is very rough in condition, as you can see from the pictures we have provided. Part IV, while having a few 'tea' stains and some creasing, is preserved in much better condition . Frederick Dalcho (1770 - 1836) was born in London, England, but moved to the United States early in his life. He became an important and influential member of the Scottish Rite Masons, but quit his involvement after becoming enmeshed in a dispute with members who had formed a splinter group. In 1814 he was ordained a Deacon in the Protestant Episcopal Church, and then in 1818 ordained a priest. He was assistant minister at St. Michael's Church in Charleston SC. "The Evidence of the Divinity of our Saviour" was originally published in 182o in Charleston. Copies of that original book and these Tract pamphlets are rare. The specimens that we are offering here seem to be the only ones being offered on line. Such rarity (and their fragility and age) suggests a more lenient assessment when viewing the condition of Part III. TITLE : The Evidence of the Divinity of our Saviour, as Furnished by the Gospel of John, Parts III & IV - 2 pamphlets, of 4 (assumed) / AUTHOR : Not credited in the pamphlets [ but known to have been Frederick Dalcho, 1770 - 1836 ] A curious note : At the finish of Part III is given the name of Bishop Jer. Taylor; and at the end of Part IV the name Barrow is printed. I am assuming that these were the persons who edited the pamphlets for publication as reprints. Issues of copyright and authorship were moot at that time. IMPRINT : Protestant Episcopal Tract Society PLACE : Depository, No. 28 Ann street, New York DATE : [1840] PRINTER : W. Plows, 150 Fulton St. STATUS : OUT OF PRINT - OP - RARE DETAILS : Each volume has 8 pages (On the cover of each is printed 10 pp, but pagination only mounts to 8.) I assume the two extra pages indicate the unnumbered inner covers; size is approximately 4 1/8" x 6 5/8"; yellow wraps, sewn, printed and decorated in black. Society list on verso of front cover and recto of rear cover. Rear exterior on each pamphlet has a brief continuation of the list. CONDITION . Part III : FAIR ONLY ? Part IV : VERY GOOD ?These were previously owned. Part III (No. 148) is quite rough in condition, having the upper fore-edge corner considerably torn and ragged : displaying loss there, and nicks and loss down the fore-edge. Part III also displays a considerable amount of weathering and smudging. Part IV (No. 149) is measurably better in condition, having only some 'tea' stains which exhibits on the rear cover, and extends through the leaves. Part IV also has some light foxing and some creasing. - else clean.

This book presents compelling evidence that Jesus Christ was recognized as divine in the early Christian Church, challenging the notion that his divinity was a later development. The author examines the writings of early Christian and pagan philosophers, demonstrating that Jesus was widely believed to be God, entitled to religious worship, and distinct from the Supreme God. This work enriches our understanding of the historical and theological development of Christ's nature, providing valuable insights for those seeking to explore the origins of Christian belief. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
