Cloth. Zustand: Good. First Edition. 23 cm. 199 pages. This copy inscribed on the front paste down: "To comrade R. W. Boyd from Geo. W. Schee, Primghar, Oct. 1909". The biography for Boyd in the book (p. 24) indicates that he served in Company K, Sixth Iowa Cavalry from 1863 and later settled in O'Brien County. Schee's more lengthy biography indicates that he served in Company C, Thirty-Third Iowa Infantry from March 21, 1864 and was discharged at Davenport, Iowa in September, 1865. Similar biographies for at least 200 Civil War veterans who lived in this Iowa County. Quite rare. This copy in the original blue cloth; slightly shaken and with some scuffing, but solid and complete. Signed by Author(s).
