Hard Cover. First Edition, First Printing. (1976). Fine in a Near Fine dustjacket. Sky-blue boards. The spine is stamped in silver. Octavo. 258pps. An excellent, collector's-quality copy: clean, tight, square, and bright. All tips are sharp. The text is immaculate; no previous ownership markings. The dustjacket, glossy in a mylar sleeve, has been price-clipped: it is otherwise fine. SIGNED and inscribed by Shulman -- in letter format -- on the ffep. This is the first book of Carl Hiaasen, the ghostwriter. ".In this irreverent fictionalized look at medical schools and the training our future doctors receive, Lloyd Goldman learns that locating your funny bone is the first thing you have to do in order to survive four frantic and frustrating years. Goldman had always wanted to be a physician, but he wasn't quite prepared for the fierce competition, the stamina required, and the bewildering, often absurd situations he encounters. Mixing both anquish and antics -- from losing his first patient to misplacing a cadaver's gall bladder -- the book is an eye-opening and side-splitting story of one young man's journey through medical training." Purchase with confidence: all books, gradings, and descriptions are rendered the care of a genuine bibliophile. Satisfaction guaranteed or all costs you've incurred will be promptly refunded. Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. Herman Bernar Temple (Jacket art) (illustrator). 1st Edition. Original black cloth with red lettering. Very good with slight corner bumps and no prior owner markings or bookplates. Paper is slightly age-toned as expected. Pages six and seven have some offsetting due to prior insertion of a store receipt. In very good dust jacket with slight edge wear including some short tears. No jacket chips, not price clipped but jacket flap price has been blacked out. Vintage magic shop sticker on front pastedown (H.E. Swanson, Seattle) . Striking dust jacket design. Normally the jacket is red with black and white illustration. This dust jacket is a scarcer design with yellow, green and blue hues and brown and white lettering. Very uncommon in my experience.

Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Ghost written by Herman Charles Bosman (cf. Valerie Rosenberg 1976). No date but c. 1943. An exceedingly idiosyncratic work dedicated, inter alia, to "all those who have lost their honour and are languishing in prisons". 469pp. undiscoloured and unmarked. The boards are a little faded and lightly rubbed at the extremities. Bit of scuffing to spine top with a 1-2cm split at bottom edge. A most enigmatic and very scarce work. Good to VG. A shorter version (213pp. with red boards) was also published but whether that was an abridgement of this work or whether this one was an expanded version of that is not known.
