Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book outlines the achievements of the Cooperative Extension Work program that was part of the Cooperative Extension Service launched in 1914. The programâs aim was to extend the reach of knowledge gained through land-grant universities and the United States Department of Agriculture to the public to help increase their agricultural and economic prosperity. At the core of the program were county agents who in 1923 helped establish a record 40143° 25 of farms and homes with new practices including crop and livestock improvements, marketing, dairy, and soil management practices. The agents also helped foster a greater interest in better nutrition and improved social and economic conditions in farm communities. The book discusses the methods used to improve extension methods and provides specific examples of county-level successes illustrating the impact of the program's practices on farmers' net incomes. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
