Geïnspireerd door deze artikelen van Foucault reisden Peter Van Goethem en Pieter Verstraete vijf weken lang door Iran. Ze onderzochten op welke manier hedendaagse Iraanse kunstenaars met de door het Islamitische regime opgelegde censuurmaatregelen omgaan. Is verzet nog mogelijk in een politiek repressief klimaat dat het culturele landschap dicteert en definieert, of geeft de strenge censuur net aanleiding tot nieuwe vormen van creativiteit? Op basis van hun eigen ervaringen en tientallen interviews met Iraanse kunstenaars, onderzoeken de auteurs in vier indringende essays het spel van censuur en verzet in de Iraanse republiek.
