Zustand: Fair. 1850. 509 pages. No dust jacket. This is an ex-Library book. Brown cloth with gilt lettering. Ex-Library copy, with expected inserts and inscriptions. Rough cut pages are moderately tanned and thumbed at the edges, creased corners and foxing. Hinges are cracked, with some exposed netting and a loose binding. Boards have been moderately rub worn. Noticeable shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are bumped and a little frayed Spine ends are crushed, with noticeable splits and chips. Tanning to spine and edges. Boards are bowed. Book has a forward lean. Water marks to boards and spine.

Richard Graves (4 May 1715 23 November 1804) was an English cleric, poet, and novelist. He is remembered especially for this picaresque novel The Spiritual Quixote (1773). The comic romance is a satire on the itinerant and illiterate preachers among the Methodists. It follows the religious and romantic adventures of its hero, a young Oxford man, who, living in retirement with his mother in the country, decides to become an evangelist, although mainly from the lack of any other more interesting occupation.
