'It was near Tripoli that Yorke Villers and his cousin Roy met the Australian Major Todd and heard his story of the ring, worth a fortune, that lay buried somewhere near Jerusalem. They joined forces, but found that they were being shadowed by rivals who had enlisted the aid of the Bedouins - shadowed until the last dramatic moment among the rocks below a monastery in the Judean mountains.
