Excellent and unsentimental black and white photographs by Carl Julien provide subtle yet clear counterpoint . Near Fine, slight even toning, small bumps at corners, lacking the dust jacket. Photographic paper label front cover. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.

Though this book was a source of delight to some white southerners who confessed their delight in the speech of blacks, it reflects a degree of caricature not unlike those who promoted the minstrel shows in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Bound in maroon pebble grained cloth with pictorial paste down, A very nice near fine copy with tiny silver spotting to rear board.
