Original binding of a light brown cloth spine with beige printed paper over fairly rigid cardstock covers; toning and soiling as well as staining to boards which are worn along edges particularly at corners; library shelf number handwritten in white ink at front board's top left. Library bookplate on front pastedown; library ink stamp and pencil notation on page ii; ink number stamp on page iii; ink stamps on page 51; no other library marks readily apparent upon a quick perusal. Some foxing and toning throughout. Slight splitting at front hinge; tear to surface paper along rear hinge; several leaves slightly pulled but otherwise binding remains reasonably firm. OCLC cites editions of Cammann's catechism for 1863, 1864, and 1876 although the book was copyrighted in 1862. Henry J. Cammann is identified as "late superintendent of St. Thomas's Church Sunday-School, New York" which is, of course, the famous church located in Manhattan at 53rd Street and Fifth Avenue.…
