Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book, written by a group of former professors at New York University, candidly presents their reasons for resigning their positions. Published in 1833, the text begins by depicting the founders' vision of the university as an institution on par with the great educational establishments in Europe. However, the authors argue that the school's first chancellor, the Reverend Dr. Mathews, consistently fell short of the mark. Mathews exhibited a lack of leadership and administrative skill, which stalled much-needed reforms and negatively impacted discipline. The inefficiencies in the administration caused a breakdown in collegiality and trust among the faculty. The book also points out how the council overseeing the university largely ratified Mathews's decisions without proper due diligence. The authors maintain that the university's success was stifled by the chancellor's inadequacy, and that their resignations were necessary to preserve the integrity of the institution. Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book is an exhaustive examination of the fundamental principles of political economy. It begins by establishing definitions, before discussing the nature of utility and wealth, which are central to the understanding of the discipline. The author uses these ideas as a launchpad to explore the complex relationships between politics, economics, and morality. The author has endeavored to create an accessible guide to the subject that is both meticulous and thought-provoking, paying special attention to the application of economic principles to private and public affairs. The ultimate goal is to explain political economy in a wider context, and shed light on its relevance to our current social, economic, and political concerns.
