From the time Bessie Thomas was a young woman, she ran a Tourist Lodge, 'The Bruce Beckons', cooking three meals a day for over 100 people, while raising 5 children at the same time. As well as Bessie's recipes there are many 'customer friends' recipes with their name's included. Many of the 'customer friends' came from Owen Sound, Cape Chin North, Oliphant/London areas of Ontario. Illustrated throughout by charming black/white photographs and a painting of The Bruce Beckons by Marie Sinclair.
