Trade Paperback. Zustand: Used - Very Good. The Walker Art Center recently opened its expanded space, which includes a new theater, a new restaurant, and more galleries, but is best known for being Herzog &de Meuron's first public building in the United States. The project drew national coverage from media including 'The New York Times. Expanding the Center' caters to and piques public interest in the building with a generous selection of images, including sketches, renderings, and photographs of the construction process and the completed work. Herzog &de Meuron's shimmering but grounded design mirrors the textures and shades of the Center's original space, and an institutional philosophy based in innovation and risk-taking, the exploration of alternative approaches to learning, the experimental use of technologies to communicate information, and the design of spaces to enhance a variety of museum experiences. The book is organized around the decisions and actions of the architects, builders, Center staff, and the audience Very nice clean, tight copy free of any marks.

Hardcover. Zustand: Gut bis sehr gut. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Sehr gut. 1. Auflage. Z : 22 x 25 cm, 140 pages with 71 color & 10 bw.illustrations - In 2008, Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron and Chinese artist Ai Weiwei joined forces to design the celebrated Beijing National Stadium for the Olympic Games. In 2012, the team came together again for the Serpentine Gallery s acclaimed annual commission, as part of the London 2012 Festival, the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad. Their pavilion takes visitors beneath the Serpentine s lawn to explore the hidden history of its previous pavilions. Supporting the structure from below, eleven columns symbolize past pavilions, and a twelfth represents the current one. The pavilion s interior is clad in cork, to evoke the excavated earth, and is built as a network of pathways and trenches. Herzog & de Meuron and Weiwei s archaeological approach creates a space that invites visitors to look beneath the surface of the park as well as back in time to the inspiration of earlier structures.
